Hi, I'm Cierra!
I am a Registered Dietitian based in San Diego, CA. I just finished up a year working with San Diego Unified School District Food Services as a FoodCorps Service Member. This role allowed me to wear so may different hats from educator to cook to muralist and more! Working in the second largest school district greatly expanded my foodservice expertise and understanding of food systems.
Prior to FoodCorps I graduated with a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2021 from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania and from there I went on to complete a 1200+ hour dietetic internship at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
I have always felt called to work in communities and help people access equitable and culturally relevant food and health and wellness resources. Throughout my internship I reconnected with this purpose and chose to pursue a year of service with the nonprofit FoodCorps.
Acknowledging the intersections of nutrition, physical wellness, social justice, and mental wellbeing is vital to providing meaningful healthcare, community care, and education. As a food educator and advocate for health in every sense, the gaps among these 4 key areas are what I try to bridge in my work. In my current and future endeavors I hope to work to bring nourishment to communities, individuals, and the environment and promote holistic wellness through the fortification of equitable food systems.
